In late winter in Svalbard, in the high arctic when the sun spends hours just above the horizon, Anon saw a group of walrus lying in the snow. After being nearly hunted to extinction, walrus have made a tremendous recovery and are a fascinating species. Anon joined them, lying in the snow for hours, waiting for them to look at him. One briefly lifted its head, as if to see what this strange-smelling thing was, and then went back to sleep.
